Recuperando el tiempo en la comida / catching up with food / Nachholen mit Essen

En este mes que hemos estado en Guadalajara, hemos comido mucho en la calle. Era inevitable, después de casi 3 años de ausencia debemos recuperar el tiempo perdido.

In this month that we have been in Guadalajara, we have eaten a lot in the street. It was inevitable, after almost 3 years of absence we have to make up for all the Mexican food we didn't eat.

In dem Monat den wir in Guadalajara verbracht haben, haben wir viel drausen gegessen. Es war unvermeidbar. Nach fast 3 Jahren Abwesenheit mussen wir nachholen für das Mexikanische Essen das wir nicht gegessen haben.

Vuelo a /Flight to /Flug nach Guadalajara

El 19.12.07 volamos finalmente de regreso a
Guadalajara, después de 3 años de vivir en Alemania.
Fue un momento triste, al despedirnos de nuestros
amigos que amablemente nos acompañaron al aeropuerto
(y nos ayudaron a llevar las 12 piezas de equipaje
:-).
Llegamos bien aunque tuvimos que pernoctar en la
ciudad de México ya que perdimos la conexión a
Guadalajara debido a un retraso en el vuelo. Lo suave
es que la aerolínea nos pagó el hotel y gorreamos
desayuno y cena.

On Dec/19, 2007 we finally flew back to Guadalajara,
after 3 years of living in Germany. It was a sad
moment, as we said goodbye to our friends who kindly
took us to the airport (and helped us take the 12
pieces of luggage :-)

We made it fine to Guadalajara, although we had to
stay overnight in Mexico City. This was because our
first flight had a delay and we missed the connection
to Guadalajara. The good thing is that the airline
paid the hotel and two meals.

Am 19.12.07 sind wir endlich nach Guadalajara
geflogen, nach 3 Jahren in Deutschland. Es war ein
trauriger Augenblick. Wir haben uns von unseren
Freunden verabschiedet, die uns netteweise zum
Flughafen gebracht haben (und sie haben auch geholfen,
die 12 Gepäckstücke mitzunehmen :-)

Wir sind gut angekommen in Guadalajara, obwohl wir
mussten in Mexiko Stadt übernachten. Das war nötig
weil unser erster Flug hatte eine Verspätung und wir
haben unseren 2. Flug nach Guadalajara nicht
geschafft. Zum Glück hat die Fluggesselschaft das
Hotel, Abendessen und Frühstuck bezahlt.

Soljanka y Lebkuchen

El 16 de diciembre de 2007 Matthias y Kathrin
organizaron una cena que ya se ha hecho tradición en
el grupo de COM en Continental Babenhausen (Antes
Siemens VDO). La velada constó de café y pastel, luego
una caminata en el mercado de navidad de Darmstadt y
después una deliciosa cena con Soljanka (una rica sopa
rusa) y Lebkuchen (panecillos de gengibre
tradicionales de navidad).

Aunque nosotros sólo llegamos para la última parte, la
velada estuvo muy bonita. Excepto que fue la última
despedida de los amigos de Continental. Ese fue un
trago amargo.

Despedida en la iglesia / Farewell party in the Church

El sábado 15 de diciembre, nuestros amigos de la
iglesia (Emmaus-Gemeinde) organizaron una fiesta de
despedida. Fue una bonita oportunidad de ver a todos
una vez más. Fue un momento triste, aunque en las
fotos estamos sonriendo.

On December 15th, our friends from the church
(Emmaus-Gemeinde) organized a farewell party. It was
a nice opportunity to see everybody one more time. It
was a sad moment, even if you see us smiling in the
photos.

Am 15. Dezember, unsere Freunde von Emmaus-Gemeinde
haben eine Abschiedsparty organisiert. Es war eine
gute Möglichkeit, noch einmal alle zu sehen. Es war
trotzdem ein trauriger Augenblick, auch wenn wir in
den Fotos lächeln.

Ahora sí es en serio / Now we mean it

A todos los que les dijimos que ya nos vamos a
regresar a Guadalajara nos decían que no nos creían
(quizá porque ya se prolongó nuestra estancia en
Alemania tres veces). Sin embargo, ahora sí va en
serio. Para muestra, en la foto pueden ver a Josué y
Rebeca supervisando las operaciones de la mudanza.

Nobody believed us when we said we are going back to
Guadalajara (maybe because our stay in Germany has
been extended three times). Well, this time it's
really happening. The proof is in the photo. You can
see Josué and Rebeca supervising the operations of the
moving company.

Viaje a Italia / Trip to Italy

En la segunda semana de septiembre fuimos a Italia. Estuvimos 4 días en el lago Garda. Éramos 8 personas: Viry, Memo, Josué, Rebeca, Don Humberto, Sra Raquel, Beto (hermano de Viry) y Aurora (amiga de la familia).

Uno de los días fuimos a Venecia.

On the second week of September we went to Italy. We were 4 days at the Garda Lake. We were 8 people: Viry, Memo, Josué, Rebeca, Don Humberto (Viry's father), Sra Raquel (Viry's mother), Beto (Viry's brother) and Aurora (friend of the family).

Cortando flores - Cutting flowers

El 24.08.2007 fuimos a cortar flores a Gross-Umstadt, una ciudad cerca de donde vivimos. En esta época del año se puede ir a una graja de por ahí a cortar flores, piscar frambuesas y perderse en el laberinto de maíz. Los niños pueden jugar en un divertido trepadero hecho con pacas de paja.
El ir cortar flores fue una bonita experiencia para todos nosotros, incluyendo los papás de Viry y Aurora, una amiga de la familia, quienes están de visita.

El laberinto de maíz es verdaderamente un enorme laberinto hecho con pasillos en medio de un campo con milpas altas. Visto desde el cielo, el laberinto tiene una figura. Por ejemplo este año, el laberinto tiene forma de un león. Esta ocasión no entramos al laberinto pero hace dos años nos divertimos mucho ahí.

On August 24th, 2007 we went to cut flowers to Gross-Umstadt, a city close to where we live. This time of year you can go to a farm to cut flowers, pick raspberries and get lost in the corn labyrinth. Children can play in a very fun climbing struture made with packs of hay. Cutting flowers there was a very nice experience to all of us, including Viry's parents and Aurora, a friend of the family, who are visiting. The corn labyrinth is a full blown maze of endless paths inside a cornfield with high corn plants. Seen from the sky, the labyrinth has a shape. For example, this year the labyrinth has the shape of a lion. This time we didn't go in the labyrinth but two years ago we had a lot of fun in there.

Inicio de la escuela

El 19.08.2007 hubo en nuestra iglesia (Emmaus-Gemeinde Babenhausen) un servicio familiar en el que parte del programa fue orar por los niños que van a empear la primaria en este año. Josué desde luego que participó. Estaba muy emocionado y llevó su mochila llena de sus libros, como los demás niños.

Josué y Rebeca estudian en el hogar con Viry y un poco de ayuda de parte de Memo. Rebeca está a la mitad de kinder y Josué empézará primero de primaria en septiembre.

On August 19th, 2007 there was a family service in our church (Emmaus-Gemeinde Babenhausen). Part of the program was praying for the children who are going to start primary school this year. Josué participated, of course. He was very excited and he took his backpack full of books, like all other children.

Josué and Rebeca are homeschooled by Viry. Memo helps a little bit. Rebeca is halfway through kindergarten and Josué is going to start 1st grade in September.

Retiro de la iglesia / Church camp

En Junio 2007 fuimos con nuestra iglesia a Lachen para un retiro de la iglesia. Fueron tres días padrísimos con nuestros amigos de la iglesia. Hicimos cosas muy divertidas. Fuimos también al museo de la tecnología en Speyer y a un balneario.

Josué y Rebeca jugaron horas y horas con sus amigos. Josué estaba muy orgulloso de pertenecer "al grupo".

En una fogata que hubo hicimos "pan de leñador". Ahí también introdujimos a los alemanes a los s'mores, una bomba de calorías de origen estadounidense a base de malvabisco derretido, galletas y chocolate. Para más información vean el artículo de wikipedia (en inglés).

In June 2007 we went with our church to Lachen for a church camp. We had three wonderful days with our friends from church. We did lots of fun things. We also went to the Museum of Technology in Speyer and to a water park.

Josué and Rebeca played hours and hours with their friends. Josué was very proud to belong to "the group".

In a campfire we baked "stick bread". We also introduced the Germans to s'mores, a calorie-bomb made with melted marshmallow, cookies and chocolate. For more info see the wikipedia article.

Visita de mi mamá y mi hermano (de Memo)

Del 16 de junio al 8 de julio de 2007 vinieron mi mamá y mi hermano Alex a visitarnos en Rodgau, Alemania. Fueron tres semanas de intenso turismo y agradableconvivencia.

Los primeros 6 días hicimos un viaje a Neuschwanstein (donde hay un castillo impresionante), Salzburgo, Viena, Praga y Nürnberg. Fue cansado pero muy divertido. Después Alex siguió su viaje por otras partes de Europa y mi mamá y nosotros (Zepeda Alvarez) hicimos viajes de un día a atracciones cercanas.

Un fin de semana mi mamá y nosotros fuimos a Goslar, donde viven unos amigos (Marco y Waltraud). Mi mamá se quedó más días y nosotros regresamos a Rodgau (donde vivimos).

La última semana en que estuvieron pudimos hacer pequeños viajes a lugares cercanos y disfrutar unos de otros.

Desde hace más de un año no ponemos nuevo contenido en nuestro blog. Ahí perdonen la falta de constancia para actualizar. Sólo sepan que estamos bien. Luego pondremos más de nuestras aventuras.

Wittenberg

En el camino a Berlín, no resistimos la tentación de desviarnos por un par de horas para visitar Wittenberg. Wittenberg es la ciudad donde Martín Lutero publicó las 95 tesis que condenaban la avaricia y el paganismo en la Iglesia católica como un abuso, especialmente respecto a las indulgencias. Con las prisas, no alcanzamos a ver todo con calma, pero por lo menos vimos la catedral, donde las famosas tesis fueron clavadas. Ahí vean el artículo en http://es.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lutero.

On the way to Berlin, we couldn't resist the temptation to take a 2-hour detour to visit Wittenberg. Wittenberg is the city where Martin Luther published the 95 theses in which he condemned the stinginess and paganism of the Catholic Church as an abuse, especially concerning the letters of indulgence. As we were in a rush, we didn't have time to see everything, but at least we saw the cathedral, where the famous theses were nailed to the door. Schützkowski en Rodgau

Matthias y Katrin Schützkowski son un matrimonio joven muy especial. Matthias trabaja también en Siemens VDO. Ambos tienen un gran corazón. Matthias tiene un conocimiento impresionante en todos los temas posibles. Katrin tiene un carisma especial con los niños. Son muy buenos amigos. Aquí aparecen en la foto visitándonos en Rodgau, durante una caminata que hicimos por el pueblo.

Matthias and Katrin Schützkowski are a very special young couple. Matthias works also in Siemens VDO. They both have a great heart. Matthias has an impressive knowledge in all possible topics. Katrin has a special carisma with the children. They are great friends. They appear in the picture visiting us in Rodgau, during a walk through our town.
